Conservation Engineering Specialist
PURPOSE OF POSITION: The purpose of this position is to provide the engineering practitioner services necessary for the installation of structural conservation practices within the County that are primarily intended to bring land owners into compliance with the NR151 Agricultural Performance Standards and Prohibitions. The work is performed under the direction of the Director of Land Management.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Associate degree in Conservation, Agriculture, Soil Science or related field and two years conservation practice management experience, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities. Agriculture Engineering Practitioner certification required within 6 months of hire. Working knowledge of ARCVIEW, AUTOCAD, NRCS spreadsheets. A valid motor vehicle operator’s license required.
COMPENSATION / BENEFITS: The 2021 wage range for this full-time (80 hours bi-weekly), non-exempt position is $19.63 per hour to $26.77 per hour (step 20). The expected starting wage is $19.63 per hour to $22.30 per hour (step 4), depending upon qualifications. Trempealeau County’s compensation plan considers annual wage step increases.
